Helping Students Master Math Facts: Building Fluency and Automaticity

Problem:

Students often struggle with learning and retaining their math facts. So, what is the best way to build fact fluency and ultimately have automaticity of math facts?

Solution:

Research supports a trajectory that begins by providing conceptual experiences where students model and count to come up with a solution, and then apply fact strategies to build fact development that is meaningful. Games are a great way to build fact fluency in a fun and engaging way for students. Everyday Mathematics has a variety of games in the curriculum that target fluency. However, if you need additional games and/or are not currently using Everyday Mathematics, you can access 19 great games here!
