To do this, we believe it is important to take a strategic, system-wide approach to improving teaching and learning in one or more of the STEM disciplines.

The needs assessment is administered to all relevant teachers in the school to get information about their strengths, needs, and current practices in math, science, or another STEM discipline to inform strategic planning. The needs assessment includes questions to gauge perceived needs related to resources, instructional support, and other areas, and is designed to be customizable by schools.
The School Math Capacity Rubric helps schools consider, evaluate, and develop their schools’ capacity to improve mathematics instruction. It includes sections on vision and goals, school-wide use of data, engaged and informed leadership, professional collaboration and learning, and time and resources for mathematics, with a four-level rating scale to promote discussion, reflection, prioritization, and goal-setting by school leadership.
The Collaborative Coaching Protocol helps focus the planning, observation, and debriefing conversations during the Collaborative Coaching process. By focusing on instructional goals, expectations for students’ learning, and classroom evidence, teams of educators share their expertise and insights throughout the process.
